Congratulations!

We hope your visit to this site is due to a friend, or neighbor telling you about our exciting new project. We are partnering with our Neighbors to create a Networked Community! People helping people to achieve a common goal! Join us, and watch what people can do when we work together for a common goal!

Please read the Tips to Navigating this site,if you are not that familiar with the Internet, or your computer.

Who are you, and what in the world are you talking about?
Who we are. What we are talking about is a plan to develop a partnership with our neighbors and towns people in Bogalusa to create an online community, or a "Wired Neighborhood".

Why did you ever start something like this?
It's simple! I guess we are a bit selfish. We want High Speed Internet Access too! We live just outside of the Bogalusa City Limits, and HSI has refused to come to us on it's own! We believe all things are possible, and it just takes a little organization, and some educated effort with a focus to make dreams a reality. We are in the business of "People Helping People".

What is DSL?
Technically, it is called Digital Subscriber Line. It is high speed Internet access delivered through your standard telephone line. It allows you to use your telephone line while surfing the Internet at high speeds. A second phone line is not needed, offering you a cost savings right off of the bat! It is 100 times faster than regular dial up Internet access. It makes the difference between the Internet being a useful tool, and being a total aggravation. It will be the slowest alternative to Internet access that we will consider as an option. Although, there is nothing slow about it.
If you really don't know what DSL is, you should stop by the Library in Bogalusa. Bring your Drivers License, and take a few minutes to sign up and get a library card. Sit down and use one of their computers. They share a T1, and the speeds there are just a little bit slower than the average DSL. (Slower). So, take a few minutes out of your day, and check it out!

How does it compare to Cable Modems?

Cable modems vary greatly depending on where you are located, and who is providing your service. The technology used in Cable modems allows you to utilize up to 3mb of speed. This is not very usual, and the speeds normally are closer to the speed of DSL. The viability of Cable is largely dependent on the cable system infrastructure that is already in place. At this time, the driving force to upgrade the cable feeds, is not for regular TV signals, it is for broad band Internet access. Our cable carrier, Charter Marketing has no current projects in place to upgrade services to our area that will afford this technology.

How can I become involved? What makes you think that this wild idea will work anyway?
First of all, if you are in our area of North West Bogalusa, including Greenwood, Timberlane and Woodward Estates, go ahead and let us know you are interested by signing up today! Well, simply put, it is working all over the world. We are just going to do it a little differently. How? We are going to do it together!

Why would anyone want to be involved in a project like this?
Have you ever bough 1 of something that you could have bought for half price if you would have bought 100? Is there something that you think our government should do that they are not doing? Or vice versa? Have you ever been in a group of people where they all shared a common goal? Then you know what it is like to have friends that share some common interests with you. Ever wondered why you don't have 100mpg carburetor in your car. It's called power, lobby groups, and influence.

What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks?

Some of the benefits you have just read. Drawbacks, I can't think of any!

What kind of technology are you talking about?

Anything DSL or faster. It really depends on our subscriber base. Personally I think we will be looking at a 10Mb wireless solution. Since we will be a bit dispersed, I think that will be what we will have to do. This should be a very good option for us.

But I don't know anything about computers!

Nobody does before they learn! Are you ever going to learn it on your own? Why don't you get with a group that will help you learn. Join a club, or a group like ours. We will all learn together.

Where are you located?

North West of Bogalusa, La. about 1 mile out side of town.

What areas of Bogalusa are you targeting for your projects.
Right now, our area in particular. But we are willing to help any group get the same setup that we have. When we get online here, it should be simple to roll this out in other areas for other groups.

I would like to donate to this project, how can I help?
Please look at our Investors Page. It is not your usual financial page. It has what we currently need, and things that we might need. If you have some sort of technical expertise, let us know when you sign up. Tell us what you do for a living. You might not think it is important, but we might. Welcome to our group, and we thank you for asking.

What other types of things do you need?
How about handing out some flyers for us? You can find the link here, plus on the home page on the navigation bar on the left of the screen.

Please visit the rest of our site. It will explain things in much more detail.
